How much will this system cost me?

This depends on what type of system, and what size of system you install.
Factors which influence this choice are how much you want to spend, how much space you have on your roof, what type of roof you have and its surroundings, how much electricity you use, and the size of the system you would like. We can help you decide which type of system best suits your purposes. A typical system generating enough electricity for a small house can cost as little as 40,000 ₪. Larger systems can cost many times this.

I already have a solar water heater. Why would I want this as well?

Our systems generate electricity from sunlight or wind. You can install this in addition to your solar water heater.

What are the benefits of installing a solar or wind system on my roof?

The government will actually commit to pay you for all the electricity your system generates. They will pay at around 3 to 4 times the rate at which you currently buy electricity, depending on the type of system you install. This means that your system actually generates money! You get paid up to 1.6 ₪ per kilowatt hour produced for solar systems. You get paid at 1.68 ₪ per kilowatt hour produced for residential wind systems, and 1.31 ₪ per kilowatt hour for larger systems. These payments start from when we connect your system to the grid, and last for 20 years! But the fixed payment rate begins to reduce after 2011. This means that if you connect your system to the grid after 2011, the fixed rate you get paid for 20 years will be a little lower. Use the links for more details:

Should I buy a solar system or a wind system?

There is no simple answer to this because it depends on your location, its surroundings, and what you want to achieve with the system. Generally speaking, a well sited wind power system is cheaper and produces more electricity than the equivalent solar system. Wind power can provide you with a payback time of well under 5 years, which is better than the best payback time for solar systems, which is around 7 years. However, not every property is suitable for wind turbines. It is essential to do a check using the Power Predictor to see if you have enough wind before deciding to install a wind power system. Solar systems are less visible, and if this is an important consideration to you, it would be best to focus your attention on this type of system. Does the system have to go on my roof?

Solar systems have to go on a rooftop in order to take advantage of the feed-in tariff. Wind systems do not have to go on a rooftop, but certain types of wind turbine can be mounted to a rooftop.

Other than earning money, you will benefit from putting solar panels and wind turbines at your property in many ways. These systems can increase your property's value, and ensure that you will have lower energy bills for decades to come. These systems will reduce the amount of fossil fuels that we use. Solar panels use the sun directly to produce electricity, rather than oil. And wind turbines do the same with the wind. Eventually, everything will be powered by renewable means. Can you describe the procedure I will have to go through?

First we design your system with you, and obtain the necessary permits. Then we put solar panels or wind turbines up on your roof, or in your garden or field. Your new system will produce electricity from sunlight or wind. This electricity is fed into a box inside your house, called an inverter. The inverter takes the electricity from the solar panels and wind turbines, and converts it into AC electricity that can be used in your house, and when there is excess produced, it is fed back into the national electricity grid. This process is all automated, meaning you never have to worry where your electricity is coming from.

Remember, you will be paid for all the electricity your system produces, at 3 to 4 times the standard rate for electricity, not just the excess. This means that your payment for what you produce and what you pay for what you consume are separate. This is made possible because we install a separate meter that the Electric Company comes and reads regularly. This means that whatever happens, you will earn money from your system.

How can you predict how much electricity my system will produce?

The amount of sunlight in Israel over the course of a year is well known, as it is a predictable resource. You know Israel, so you know how sunny it is. Independent studies conclude that the amount of sunlight reaching the ground in Israel is about 2200watts per square metre. Based on this fact, the Israeli Government advises that a 1kWp system will use this 2200w/m^2 to produce about 1700kWh per annum, and this is how we know how much electricity your system will produce. In fact, we are extra careful in all our calculations, so your system is likely to produce more than we say, and you will not be left disappointed.
For wind power, you can have an overall impression of how much wind there is at your location. Depending on this, we can advise you if further investigation is warranted. The only way to check accurately how much wind there is at your location is with the Power Predictor. This will sit at your location for at least one month, and after that we can check the real average wind speed, and give you an accurate assessment of how much electricity your system will produce.

What happens when there is no sunlight, such as at night-time?

When there is not enough sunlight, the inverter draws electricity from the national grid instead of the solar panels, so you will never be left without electricity.

How long do these components last?

The solar panels are guaranteed for more than 25 years. The inverter is expected to last for a similar amount of time.

You can expect our wind turbines to last about 30 years as long as they are maintained regularly.

Are your systems low maintenance and reliable?

The entire system is very low maintenance. The solar panels should be cleaned with water a few times a year, just like you would clean a window, to make sure all the sunlight reaches the panel.

Wind turbines require at least one inspection per year to check, and problems can be easily rectified because of the modular construction.

What guarantees do you provide?

We provide our own personal guarantee on the quality of the installation that covers any fault due to the installation for a period of 5 years.

We also provide the manufacturers guarantee on all the equipment which covers any faults in the equipment for a period of 2-7 years, depending on the equipment ( inverter warranties are extendable upon request).

We also provide the manufacturers guarantee on the electricity production of the solar panels which assures that the efficiency of the solar panels falls no more than 10% in ten years, and no more than a further 10% in the next 15 years. That is a total of 25 years warranty!

How long does it take to deliver the equipment?

After orders have been place with the factory, the manufacturing and delivery time is between 4 to 12 weeks, depending on the equipment. It may be possible to reach arrangements to suit your particular needs. Delivery will be made directly to the installation site.

How long does the entire process take?

This really depends on you as well as us. Once you have decided which system you want, and arranged the necessary finance, the rest is up to us.
Testing of the site for wind power systems takes at least one month, although longer is recommended. Designing the system and getting permits and planning permission can take around 1 to 2 months. Once this is all done, and the equipment is delivered, the construction can usually be done within a week. So, the total time from start to finish is usually around 2 to 3 months.
